Speakers Call For Unity, Character To Strengthen Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Sep, 2026) Eminent intellectual Brigadier (Retd.) Akhtar Nawaz Janjua has stressed the need for Muslims to preserve their dignity, uphold principles and avoid compromising national interests for personal gains. He stated that self-respect and unity are essential for the progress and strength of nations.
Addressing a ceremony organised by the Nazriya Pakistan Council on Defence Day at Aiwan-e-Quaid, he said: “Allama Iqbal had rightly emphasised that a Muslim should bow only before Allah Almighty.”
Janjua highlighted Pakistan’s swift response to a cross-border incursion on May 5, 2025 as an example of national resolve. He noted that the development marked a turning point in Pakistan's international standing and expressed confidence in its continued growth and influence globally.
Chairman Nazriya Pakistan Council Trust, Mian Muhammad Javed, stated that the ceremony reflected the core philosophy of the Council, which focuses on conveying the teachings and ideals of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Prophets and Khulafa-e-Rashideen, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Allama Iqbal to the younger generation.
Guest of honour, Brigadier (Retd.) Shahid Asghar, noted that armed forces, citizens, and writers are all contributing to national strength in their respective ways while fulfilling their duties. Another guest of honour, Waheed Sharif, emphasized the participants' commitment to the motherland and its protection.
Iqbaliyat scholar Abdul Ghafoor Abid highlighted a positive outlook for the future with the recent agreement among Türkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. Allama Iqbal's poetry was cited as a vision for such unity.
Allama Muhammad Mehmood Ahmed Tabassum stressed that Pakistan is a great blessing from Allah Almighty and emphasized the importance of younger generations safeguarding the country and upholding its national ideals.
Wafa Chishti identified mutual differences as a serious social challenge, stating they weaken society by undermining human brotherhood. He urged for inculcating the teachings and character of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) among youth.
