Special Committee Formed To Tackle Traffic: Commissioner

FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Sep, 2026) Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has ordered the formation of a special committee to address persistent traffic congestion and parking issues around Lyallpur Galleria on East Canal Service Road.
The divisional commissioner made these directions while chairing a meeting with:
- Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhry
- Chief Engineer FDA Mehr Ayub
- Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rana Nasir Javed
- Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Usman Ghani
- Lyallpur Galleria administrator Sohail Khattak
and other concerned officers.
The Committee
The committee, led by FDA Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, includes the CTO, Municipal Corporation Chief Officer, and Lyallpur Galleria’s administration head.
Discussion Points
During the meeting, participants reviewed:
- Traffic bottlenecks
- Haphazard parking
- Challenges faced by citizens on East Canal Service Road, particularly near Lyallpur Galleria.
Officials presented various proposals for traffic management, road engineering, and parking arrangements. Measures to alleviate traffic pressure and improve vehicular flow were also discussed.
Commissioner’s Remarks
Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh emphasized the need for comprehensive, scientifically planned solutions to resolve traffic bottlenecks sustainably. He prioritized:
- Providing better travel facilities
- Maintaining smooth traffic flow
- Effectively addressing parking problems
He directed that solutions adhere to modern road engineering and traffic management principles, ensuring practical and durable relief for citizens while minimizing traffic accidents.
