Speedy Justice For Poor Vital, Interfaith Harmony Must Prevail: Punjab Governor
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has lauded the Christian community for its remarkable contributions to national progress, while reaffirming the Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) historic commitment to safeguarding minority rights and promoting interfaith harmony across the country.
During a meeting with a delegation of minority affairs lawyers, led by Chairman Christian Lawyers Association Pakistan Kashif Alexander, at the Governor's House Lahore on Saturday, he stated:
The freedom and peace enjoyed by minorities in Pakistan stand as a "shining example" for the entire region. He criticised the Indian government for its "miserable failure" in providing basic rights to minorities, asserting that people of different faiths in India are unable to perform their religious rituals with freedom.
He emphasised that followers of all religions enjoy complete religious freedom in Pakistan, adding that the country fully respects and actively supports interfaith harmony. He praised the Christian community for excelling in every field and bringing glory to Pakistan through their dedication and service.
The governor also highlighted the PPP's unwavering role in championing minority rights, citing the appointment of Anthony Naveed as Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly as concrete evidence of the party's commitment to minority representation.
Turning to the legal fraternity, he commended lawyers for their sacrifices in strengthening democracy in the country. He stressed that providing speedy and affordable justice to the underprivileged is paramount, warning that without accessible legal recourse, the marginalised will continue to suffer.
Governor Saleem Haider linked global peace and security to collective well-being, urging all citizens to demonstrate solidarity for Pakistan's integrity, dignity, and survival. He called upon the nation to rise above divisions and work together for a just, peaceful, and prosperous future.
