SPI-based Inflation Rises 0.23%

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI)-based weekly inflation increased by 0.23 percent during the week ended on September 10, 2026, for the combined consumption group, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
SPI Data:
- The SPI rose to 364.26 points from 363.42 points in the previous week.
- On a year-on-year basis, the SPI increased by 8.62 percent.
The SPI covers 17 urban centres and 51 essential items for all expenditure groups.
Consumption Group Variations:
- Lowest consumption group (up to Rs 17,732): Decreased by 0.30 percent
- Consumption groups of Rs 17,733–22,888 and Rs 22,889–29,517: Declined by 0.18 percent and 0.06 percent respectively.
- Groups of Rs 29,518–44,175 and above Rs 44,175: Increased by 0.07 percent and 0.47 percent respectively.
Price Fluctuations:
During the week, prices of 14 items (27.45%) increased, 10 items (19.61%) decreased, while 27 items (52.94%) remained unchanged.

- Petrol: 6.18 percent
- Diesel: 5.49 percent
- LPG: 4.32 percent
- Pulse mash: 0.79 percent
