KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Sep, 2026)

Stars secured a thrilling four-run win over Challengers in the final of the Rivaj Presents University of Lahore National Women’s U19 Tournament at the Naya Nazimabad cricket Ground here on Friday. They defended their total of 97-7 effectively.

Led by Komal Khan, Stars avenged their previous one-run and one-wicket losses to Challengers during the league stage, ending Challengers' seven-match winning streak. Off-spinner Rozina Akram was the standout bowler for Stars, finishing with impressive figures of one for nine in four overs, despite conceding eight runs in the last over.

Rozina received support from Rukhsar Arif, who allowed only 16 runs in her four overs and dismissed Challengers captain Fizza Fiaz after she looked set to take the game away with a six in her 11-ball 10. Sawera Ramzan was another bowler among the wickets, returning one for 12 in her two overs, while six of the Challengers batters were run out.

Opening batter Pakeeza Shabbir shone for Challengers with a 65-ball 40 that featured four fours. However, with six runs required off the last three balls, she charged down the wicket to Rozina and was caught by Aqsa Habib at wide long on, who made a brilliant diving catch leaping high in the air.

Pakeeza partnered Memoona Khalid (12, 13b, 1x4) after Challengers slipped to 27-4, but both fell short of their crease. No.8 batter Mahnoor Zeb also added 19 runs with Pakeeza, but it was in vain as they could only reach 93-8 in the allotted 20 overs.

Earlier, Stars struggled to a total of 97-7 thanks to contributions from Aqsa Habib (34, 38b, 3x4s) and Komal Khan (30, 26b, 4x4s, 1x6). Afsheen Imran was the next best scorer with 10 off 20 balls. Rozina remained unbeaten on four runs after walking in at 75-5.

For Challengers, Aleena Shah stood out with three for 16, while Farya Sadaqat, Huba Nadeem, Memoona Khalid and Mahnoor dismissed one batter each.
