"Someone made our video viral; we did not,” says the policeman who had complained about stinking chickpeas, now calling the food excellent.
ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Sep, 2026) — A controversy over allegedly substandard and foul-smelling food provided to police personnel deployed to handle the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf long march has taken a new turn, with another video of the policeman who filmed the stinking chickpeas emerging in which he contradicts his earlier statement and declares the food excellent.
According to details, a newly surfaced video on social media shows the policeman offering an explanation. He can be heard saying that someone had made their video viral and that they had not done so themselves, while their food was completely excellent and up to standard.
Earlier, a video had gone viral on social media showing the policeman protesting against the poor and foul-smelling chickpeas being served at the protest duty or camp and drawing the authorities’ attention to the matter. The viral video showed angry police personnel displaying stale curry and saying that the chickpeas smelled bad, while bread was not being provided properly, clean drinking water was unavailable, and there was no washroom facility. "We have been left humiliated and distressed," they said.
