Stourbridge Fires: Accidental Start Confirmed by West Midlands Fire Service
BBC News reports that fires in Stourbridge, which destroyed 19 homes, were started accidentally. According to West Midlands Fire Service, farming equipment was in use near the fields where the fires began.
Fire Outbreaks
- The first fire started in a field near Racecourse Lane at approximately 13:27 BST on August 13.
- A second fire started shortly afterward in a field near Quarry Park Road.
Chief Fire Officer’s Statement
Chief Fire Officer Simon Tuhill expressed his sympathy for those affected, acknowledging the significant damage and personal losses. He emphasized that while this confirmation may not bring back homes or memories, it clarifies that the fires were not deliberately set.
