SU Holds Defence Day Rally To Honour Armed Forces, Martyrs

HYDERABAD, ( APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Sep, 2026 ) A Defence Day rally was taken out by the Bureau of STAGS, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, from the Arts Faculty Building to the Central library on Friday, with a large number of teachers, officers and students participating. They expressed solidarity with the armed forces of Pakistan and paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The SU spokesperson stated that the rally was led by the Deans of various Faculties and Registrar, Sajid Qayoom Memon. Participants carried national flags and raised slogans in honour of Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs. The walk concluded at the Central Library, where speakers highlighted the significance of Defence Day and the sacrifices rendered for the country’s sovereignty and security.
Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Dr Nanak Ram, said that Defence Day reminded the nation of the courage, determination and national unity demonstrated during the 1965 war. He emphasized that the sacrifices of the armed forces and martyrs would always remain an integral part of Pakistan’s history. He urged students to contribute to the country through education, research, discipline, and responsible citizenship.
Dean Faculty of Commerce & business Administration, Professor Dr Javed Ahmed Chandio, noted that Pakistan's strength lay in its defence capabilities and the unity and resilience of its people. He stressed the vital role universities play in developing educated and responsible citizens to strengthen the country’s economy and institutions. He encouraged the younger generation to learn from the spirit of sacrifice and patriotism associated with Defence Day.
Chairman Department of Political Science, Professor Dr Ghulam Akbar Mahesar, stated that Defence Day was an occasion to remember the historic sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces and civilians for the defence of the motherland. He emphasized the link between national security, political stability, social harmony, and a strong democratic culture. He called upon students to promote tolerance, unity, and constitutional values in society.
Sindh University Registrar, Sajid Qayoom Memon, along with Dr Mubarak Ali Lashari, Dr Muhammad Ali Leghari, and others, also spoke on the occasion. Director Bureau of STAGS, Ajved Bhatti, Dr Muhammad Hassan Agheem, Dr Riaz Mari, Dr Muhammad Younis Laghari, Dr Aftab Chandio, Dr Punhal Khan Lashari, Dr Abdul Hafeez Abro, Dr Shuja Khuhawar, and a large number of faculty members, officers, teachers, and students were present.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold national unity, honour the sacrifices of the martyrs, and contribute towards the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
