'Supporters aren't always wrong' - Moyes on Everton fans' anger

David Moyes: Everton manager on fans' anger at potential Harrison Armstrong sale

BBC Sport reports that Nottingham Forest has submitted a £40 million bid for Everton's teenage midfielder, Harrison Armstrong. During Everton's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, supporters expressed their opposition to a potential sale, chanting "there would be a riot" if Armstrong left.

"Supporters aren't always wrong," responded manager David Moyes, acknowledging the need to consider fan perspectives while also recognizing that difficult decisions are sometimes necessary.

He continued, "But then there are also times where I've had people at clubs who are really powerful and make difficult decisions. I'd bring into that Bryan Gray, who was at Preston North End, and Sir Philip Carter, who was at Everton when I first came in. Not all decisions are popular, and sometimes they have to do it for different reasons."

Armstrong, who has made 24 appearances for Everton, started the match at Vitality Stadium and was replaced by Charly Alcaraz after 87 minutes.

Moyes expressed frustration with Everton's lack of signings, stating his desire for reinforcements after their Carabao Cup win against Preston. The club is owned by The Friedkin Group.

"It's not really a question for just now. It will be a club decision," Moyes said regarding Armstrong's future. He also questioned the timing of the summer transfer window, suggesting it's unnecessary to keep it open once the season has begun.

"For all the years I've been in the Premier League this is probably the first time I've thought it was really a nonsense we're still playing games when the window is still open," he told Sky Sports. "It feels like we'd have been better off just getting on with the season."
