Survey Conducted To Curb Encroachments In Government Houses; Senate Told

Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, informed the Senate on Tuesday that a comprehensive survey of government accommodations in Islamabad has been conducted to identify and prevent illegal construction and encroachments.
Responding to a question from Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, the minister said the survey covered government residences to pinpoint illegal construction and encroachments within their premises and authorized boundaries.
In a written reply, he stated that the matter was referred to the Capital Development Authority (CDA), which was asked to take necessary action under applicable rules and regulations against extra construction and encroachments outside authorized premises.
The CDA subsequently initiated an anti-encroachment operation, beginning in Sector F-6/4. Similar operations were also carried out in other areas as part of a continuous exercise, he added.
The minister revealed that over 2,000 government accommodations under unauthorized occupation had been revoked and allocated to other federal government servants from the General Waiting Lists.
He emphasized that the Estate Office takes appropriate action under the Accommodation Allocation Rules, 2002, whenever complaints are received regarding unauthorized additions, alterations, or encroachments in government accommodations.
In cases where encroachments persist, allotment could be canceled, he concluded.
