Suthra Punjab Flagship Project Of Punjab CM: Minister
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Sep, 2026) | Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique chaired a meeting of the Suthra Punjab Authority, reviewing administrative and financial affairs.
Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood, Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Umar Javed, Technical Members Ch Jaffar Iqbal, Ali Tariq, Saira Iftikhar and Muzaffar islam attended. Divisional Commissioners also participated via video link.
Zeeshan Rafique highlighted that Suthra Punjab, a flagship project of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has transformed the province’s sanitation system. He attributed this success to the Chief Minister’s vision and political will.
"Due to the Chief Minister’s vision and political will, an integrated sanitation network has now been established across the province,” he said.
The Suthra Punjab initiative, according to Rafique, has garnered international acclaim:
- "Forbes, BBC, Bloomberg and Chinese and Japanese media organisations have praised this unique programme. Wherever you go in the province, you can see the footprint of Suthra Punjab,"
- He also noted the implementation of a digital monitoring system for 180,000 sanitation workers and 40,000 vehicles. However, he emphasized that public participation is crucial for optimal results.
"To enhance citizens’ participation in Suthra Punjab, the public awareness campaign needs to be made more effective," Rafique concluded.
