MALAKAND (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News) - The Trade Union Batkhela has announced an indefinite blockade of the Swat Motorway on October 7 to protest several issues. These include:

  • A provincial government decision to impose a 30 percent tax on doctors.
  • The proposed ban on non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles in Malakand Division by the federal government.
  • The enforcement of taxes in the region.

According to Sikandar Hayat, President of Trade Union Batkhela and General Secretary of the Trade Federation Malakand Division, the motorway will be blocked at Chakdara Alladhand Toll Plaza at 12 noon on October 7. He stated that the protest would continue until further orders.

Hayat strongly condemned the proposed tax on doctors and the NCP vehicle ban, describing them as unjust and oppressive for the people of Malakand Division. He urged the authorities to review the decisions and address local concerns. Traders, political parties, social activists, media representatives, and members of the lawyers' community are expected to participate in the protest.

The Trade Union has threatened to keep the Swat Motorway closed indefinitely unless the government takes steps to resolve the issues raised by protesters.
