Thar Administration seeks public opinion on new taluka boundaries
HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - August 25, 2026) A public hearing was held at village Dhaklo in Chachro taluka to seek public opinion on the proposed inclusion of Tappa Jalaluddin Sangrasi in Islamkot taluka instead of Chachro and the new delimitation of administrative boundaries.
According to a handout issued on Tuesday, the public hearing was organized on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Abdul Haleem Jagirani and chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Hashim Masood. Local residents, landlords, and other stakeholders presented their views, suggestions, and objections.
Sindh Assembly member Faqir Sher Muhammad Bilalani, Assistant Commissioner Chachro Muhammad Usman Khaskheli, Mukhtiarkar Chhachhro Salam Samejo, officials of various government departments, social and political leaders, stakeholders, and a large number of residents attended the hearing.
MPA Faqir Sher Muhammad Bilalani said, “The Sindh government always gives priority to the interests of the people.” He emphasized that the purpose of the public hearing was to reach a decision through mutual consultation and consensus.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Hashim Masood stated that the district administration strives to make decisions in the public interest, ensuring benefits for the area and its inhabitants. He noted the low attendance at the hearing (200–300 people) compared to the population of Tappa Jalaluddin Sangrasi (around 20,000–25,000). Therefore, he said, no immediate decision could be made without comprehensive consideration. He emphasized the need for further deliberation and made it clear that no decision would be imposed against public wishes.
Masood assured participants that their suggestions would receive due attention and a decision would be taken in the best public interest.
The residents also highlighted various challenges faced by people in the area. In response, Additional Deputy Commissioner Hashim Masood directed Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Usman Khaskheli and Mukhtiarkar Salam Samejo to visit the field and address public issues directly. He also instructed officers to set specific timings for meetings with citizens at their offices to alleviate unnecessary difficulties.
