Punjab Police has an internal accountability system, and any citizen who believes they have been mistreated can file a complaint for an inquiry, Rao Abdul Karim told the media.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Sep, 2026) On the order of Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, Punjab Inspector General Rao Abdul Karim appeared before the court, which expressed serious concern over the extremely small and illegible font used in FIRs and police reports. The court ordered the use of a single, larger, and clearer font across the province.
Details reveal that the Punjab IG addressed the concerns raised by SP Saddar Muhammad Abdullah regarding his inability to read the FIR and police report due to their tiny font size.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum expressed anger, stating that compressing three pages onto one page results in a minuscule font. She questioned the rationale behind saving paper at the cost of damaging officials' and judges' eyesight, making it impossible to decipher documents even with glasses.
The court directed the Punjab IG to immediately issue clear instructions to all police stations and departments to increase the font size of FIRs throughout Punjab and implement a uniform font format for easy readability in courts.
During a media interaction, when asked about allegations of raids and vandalism at homes, the Punjab IG rejected them. He emphasized that Punjab Police operates under a transparent and strict accountability system. If citizens believe they have faced misconduct or injustice, they should file formal complaints; inquiries will be conducted, and appropriate legal action will be taken without bias.
