Training Workshop Held on Digital Inventory Registration for Punjab Arms Dealers
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) A training workshop on digital inventory registration was held under the Punjab Arms Licence Portal as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of making Punjab "free from illegal weapons and secure."
According to a Home Department spokesperson, more than 350 arms dealers from across Punjab participated in-person, while dealers from all Deputy Commissioner offices also attended online. Additional Secretary Judicial Abdul Rauf, Deputy Secretary Judicial Muhammad Murtaza, and officers from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) provided training on the online portal, explaining the process for entering complete inventory and transaction details.
The Home Department extended the registration deadline by another 10 days at the request of arms dealers. The new deadline is September 6, 2026, for uploading details of existing stock and recording purchase and sale transactions.
During the workshop, dealers were instructed to ensure complete registration of their existing stock by the stipulated deadline. They must record details of all weapons and ammunition in their possession as well as every purchase and sale transaction on the online portal.
Under this new system, a complete digital record of all guns and ammunition held by each registered arms dealer will be accessible to the Home Department. Similarly, records of arms transactions across Punjab will be maintained online. All DCs will assist dealers in completing registration and uploading required details.
According to the spokesperson, this digital registration aims to eliminate crime and curb the illegal purchase and sale of weapons in Punjab. Of the 413 registered arms dealers in Punjab, 230 have so far entered their details on the system.
Dealers who fail to upload their inventory within the deadline will face legal action. Their licenses could be suspended, businesses sealed, and fines imposed for non-registration on the online portal.
The participating arms dealers expressed appreciation for the training workshop and the Home Department's efforts to introduce a modern digital system for transparent record-keeping of arms stock and transactions.
