MOSCOW (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 03rd Sep, 2026) TRENDS Research & Advisory, part of TRENDS Group, held a symposium titled “The Future of Publishing in the AI Era: Protecting Language, Culture and Creative Identity” as part of its inaugural participation in the Moscow International Book Fair 2026, serving as the Knowledge Partner for the 39th edition.

At their dedicated pavilion, TRENDS is showcasing over 500 original and translated books, research papers, and studies that contribute to strategy formulation and the analysis of global affairs, regional transformations, security, economics, and technology.

Translated into more than 16 languages, these publications cover human and international security, political islam, artificial intelligence and technology, international relations, health, climate and the environment, among other fields.

Opening the symposium discussions, moderated by Dr. Aurika Shavtikova, Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at RT Arabic, Ali Abdullah Al Ali, Researcher and Director of TRENDS Dubai, stated that AI's impact on publishing transcends technology, reaching into realms of knowledge, culture, identity, and influence.

He noted that AI is transforming information production and sharing, potentially making knowledge more accessible, but raised concerns about who will shape the knowledge people consume in the future. Al Ali emphasized that this discussion extends far beyond technological advancement:

"Publishing has long played a crucial role in safeguarding history, culture, and national identity. Books have helped societies narrate their stories and languages survive. AI has now become part of this process."

He stressed the need to ensure AI doesn't lead to a world where everyone reads the same stories, uses the same language, and perceives the world from the same perspective, underscoring that cultural diversity must remain at the heart of the digital future.

Elena Grebeneva, CEO of the Moscow International Book Fair, emphasized the fair's commitment to exploring the future of publishing in the AI era by fostering international cooperation, developing partnerships in books and publishing, and safeguarding creative identities, including languages and cultures, amidst growing reliance on generative AI tools in writing and publishing.

She advocated for stronger legal frameworks governing content ownership and the publishing industry, as well as enhanced protection for authors and publishers against potential digital infringements involving AI algorithms.

Tatiana Rodionova, Executive Director of Lira Publishing House, shared her perspective on the evolving role of AI in publishing.
