Trump Bans CNN, Politico, and MS NOW from White House

US President Donald Trump has announced an immediate ban on CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, marking a new chapter in his tumultuous relationship with American media.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused these outlets of "constantly write[ing] or report[ing] fiction or lies" about his administration, without providing specific examples. The move, however, remains unclear, as it's uncertain if it will prevent journalists from entering White House grounds.

The announcement sparked probable legal challenges from the affected outlets and press freedom organizations. Despite the ban, reporters from Politico and CNN were still present at the White House grounds shortly after.

Trump stated in the Oval Office that the decision was "cumulative stories over the last few years" and expressed frustration with the media. He also suggested further outlets might face a similar ban but did not name any specifically.

This isn't the first time Trump has clashed with the press. Since returning to office in January 2025, his administration has frequently engaged in disputes with the White House press corps. These include taking back control of the press pool and limiting access to certain areas for Associated Press journalists due to their use of terminology.

The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University responded, stating that "with so many courts having ruled against [Trump] on exactly this point, you'd think President Trump would have learned this lesson by now."
