Two Robbery, Kidnapping Suspects Killed In Police Encounter
HARIPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) Two suspected robbers allegedly involved in robbery, street crime, looting, and kidnapping were killed in an encounter with police near the Hazara Motorway, Haripur, police said on Thursday.
According to police, Kot Najibullah SHO Chaudhry Khalid and a team were patrolling the area under the supervision of Khanpur DSP Raja Muhammad Bashir when they received information about armed suspects near the link road at Jhar, close to the motorway. On reaching the spot, the suspects allegedly opened indiscriminate fire at the police team. The police returned fire in self-defence, resulting in an exchange of fire.
After the firing stopped, two suspects were found injured and taken into custody. They were identified as Muhammad Binyamin, son of Sadiq, a resident of Chak No. 041, Pattoki, Kasur district, and Hamid Ali, son of Karamat, a resident of Sheikhupura.
Police said the suspects also disclosed the identities of two accomplices, Asif of Sheikhupura and Hassan, son of Riasat Mahmood, a resident of Lahore. Two pistols were recovered from the suspects while they were being shifted to a trauma center for medical treatment. The suspects subsequently succumbed to their injuries.
Police also recovered a stolen vehicle bearing registration number BJN-457 from the scene. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a bag containing more than Rs2 million in cash and five mobile phones.
According to police, the recovered cash and mobile phones were stolen in a robbery case registered at Kot Najibullah Police Station under FIR No. 538 dated August 18, 2026, under Sections 395 and 398 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The bodies were shifted to the Rural Health Centre Kot Najibullah for post-mortem examination.
Police said the deceased suspects were wanted in the Kot Najibullah robbery case and several other cases involving robbery, theft and kidnapping registered in various districts of Punjab.
