On behalf of the UAE, the MoU was signed by Rashid Hamad Al Shamsi, Director-General of the NDEA, while Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, signed on behalf of Nigeria.

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in combating the production, manufacture, and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors. It establishes a new phase of joint security cooperation between the two countries against this transnational threat.

Key Provisions of the MoU:

  • Information Exchange: The agreement facilitates the exchange of information and data on drug-related measures taken by both nations.

The MoU aligns with the UAE's strategy of building strong bilateral partnerships with international security agencies to combat illicit drug trafficking and abuse. It reflects the close relations between the two countries and supports joint efforts based on international conventions and instruments related to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Signed during the Congress, the MoU underscores the NDEA's commitment to leveraging international platforms for expanding its partnership network and strengthening global cooperation against organized crime and illicit drug trafficking.
