UAE Officially Joins World Curling Federation
UrduPoint (30th Sep, 2026) – The United Arab Emirates, represented by the UAE Winter Sports Federation, has officially joined the World Curling Federation.
According to a statement from the Federation, curling is an Olympic and Paralympic team sport played on ice, featuring categories like men’s, women’s, mixed doubles, and wheelchair events.
Hamel Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Vice President of the Federation, stated that this membership reflects their efforts to:
- Expand international partnerships
- Strengthen cooperation and expertise exchange with global nations
- Support the development of winter sports
- Participate in international development programs
He further emphasized that this addition strengthens their development initiatives for curling, aiming to develop national teams, enhance participation in regional and international championships.
Al Qubaisi also mentioned their ongoing strategy to elevate sporting achievements by:
- Identifying and developing talent
- Preparing national teams for international competition
- Hosting continental and international events
The membership of the World Curling Federation will enable UAE national teams to access development programs and expand their participation in global championships.
