UAE Search and Rescue Team Commences Field Operations in Flood-affected Areas in Nepal
The UAE Search and Rescue Team has begun its field operations in the Rasuwa area of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, as part of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts to support the Nepalese authorities. This comes in the wake of the devastating floods that struck the country.
The team is working in close coordination with the relevant Nepalese authorities, utilizing its search and rescue capabilities and advanced equipment to assist in affected areas. They are conducting search and field-survey operations, employing drones for aerial photography, mapping, and producing three-dimensional maps to aid in accessing difficult-to-reach locations.
Hamoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, stated that the team's deployment reflects the UAE's commitment to providing support to those affected in Nepal. He added:
"We are coordinating with the Nepalese authorities to direct search and rescue capabilities to areas in greatest need, while leveraging the advanced technologies at our disposal to enhance search operations and assist in locating missing persons."
Since its deployment, the UAE Search and Rescue Team has played a crucial role in overcoming challenges and providing continuous relief support to various disaster-affected areas. This humanitarian effort persists despite the difficulties of reaching villages and infrastructure damaged by floods and landslides.
These efforts are part of the UAE's broader integrated response, showcasing its longstanding commitment to supporting countries and people in times of crisis and disaster.
