Ceferin cited two main reasons for his decision: his love for Uefa and his desire to enjoy life. Furthermore, he believes his credibility would be higher if he were not interested in the position.
Despite his own intentions, Ceferin expects Infantino to face a challenge in March 2027. He foresees two scenarios: either Infantino steps down due to lack of support or another candidate emerges to contest his leadership.
Ceferin's comments come after Infantino scrapped a controversial plan to sell stakes in Fifa competitions to private investors, prompting widespread opposition and backlash from Uefa.
Infantino has been facing calls to step down over his handling of the situation and the subsequent loss of confidence from various football communities.
