UK Inflation Rises to 2.9% in July

UK inflation has reached its highest rate since March, with energy price hikes playing a significant role. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), consumer price index (CPI) inflation stood at 2.9% in July, up from 2.6% in June.

The surge was primarily driven by a substantial increase in the energy price cap set by Ofgem last month, which resulted in an annual rise of £221 ($300) in average gas and electricity bills, reaching £1,862.
