Umar Ahsan Khan Elected as President of OICCI
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 29, 2026) Umar Ahsan Khan, CEO and Managing Director of Dawlance (Private) Limited, has been elected as the President of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI). The announcement was made at the Chamber's Extra-Ordinary General Meeting on Tuesday.
Ahmed Zahid Zaheer, Country Chairman and GM of Chevron Lubricants Pakistan (Private) Limited, was elected as Senior Vice President, while Dr. Syed Amir Ali, President and CEO of Meezan Bank Limited, took on the role of Vice President. Umar Ahsan Khan succeeds Yousaf Hussain, who led the Chamber during 2024-26.
Outgoing President Yousaf Hussain expressed welcome for the progress on economic stability but noted that it was not sufficient on its own. He emphasized the need to translate these gains into growth, supported by increased investment, exports, productivity, and job creation.
Umar Ahsan Khan pledged that the Chamber's advocacy would be based on concrete evidence. He stated, “Our advocacy must remain constructive, credible, and evidence-based. We should not merely highlight what needs to change. Wherever possible, we should offer practical solutions and collaborate with the government and stakeholders to implement them.”
Khan highlighted the decline in foreign direct investment to USD 1.65 billion last financial year, emphasizing that macroeconomic stabilization is just a starting point. He urged for a comprehensive investment environment to attract capital.
During the coming term, the new Managing Committee plans to strengthen engagement with the government, regulators, and international institutions. They will also enhance OICCI's data-driven research and continue initiatives on climate, diversity, inclusion, technology, and AI.
