UN Chief ‘Deeply Alarmed’ By New Israeli Settlements in West Bank; Slams Attacks Against Palestinians

The (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his profound alarm over reports of new illegal Israeli settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank, including a recent tender for over 1,200 housing units in the controversial E1 area. This plan threatens to sever East Jerusalem’s connection with the West Bank, posing severe risks to the territorial integrity of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the two-State solution.

Roughly 40,000 people in Dahiriya, Hebron, are currently under curfew due to an Israeli operation. This has led to arrests, road blockages, and the use of Palestinian homes as interrogation centers, impacting civilians’ access to essential services and supplies.

The UN human rights office has called on Israel to condemn its national security minister’s inciting remarks, which encourage "violence amounting to atrocity crimes" against Palestinians. The ongoing daily attacks, gunfire, missile launches, and airstrikes, despite the 2025 ceasefire plan, underscore the dire situation.
