US Has Not Learned from Past Mistakes: Leon Panetta

The former US defense secretary and ex-CIA Director, Leon Panetta, has criticized the country’s war strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan, labeling it a failure. He argues that Washington lacked clear objectives and an endgame plan for both conflicts.
According to a US broadcaster, Panetta stated that the same mistakes made in Iraq and Afghanistan are now being repeated in relation to Iran. He emphasized the importance of having a defined objective, strategy, and endgame plan before engaging in warfare, which, he claimed, the United States failed to establish for either Iraq or Afghanistan.
Panetta suggested that this failure to learn from past mistakes is evident in the current approach to Iran, indicating that Washington has not successfully navigated similar challenges.
