Vigorous Campaign Launched Against Underweight Chicken Sellers

UrduPoint reports that the district administration has initiated a robust campaign against chicken sellers engaging in short-weighing practices. Deputy Controller Weights & Measures, Muhammad Irfan, led inspections at various chicken sale points and issued fines, seized weighing equipment, and recommended legal action against violators.

This crackdown targeted several establishments: Rana Bashir Chicken Center, Mian Chicken Center, Rana Liaquat Chicken Sale Point, and Imran Chicken Center, all accused of providing customers with less chicken than advertised. Weighing scales were confiscated, and challans (fines) were issued to the shopkeepers.

Muhammad Irfan emphasized the importance of accurate weighing and directed sellers to install electrical weighing scales within 24 hours, threatening severe consequences for those depriving consumers of their full purchases. Shopkeepers submitted affidavits promising compliance with these directives.

The Deputy Controller assured continued monitoring of chicken sale points to protect consumer rights and ensure fair transactions. He stressed zero tolerance for inaccurate weighing practices.
