Watch: Why is the UK reviewing its Chagos Islands deal?

The UK is reviewing its deal to hand over the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, as requested by US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly, where he described the agreement as "terrible".

Defence Secretary Wes Streeting stated that the review is necessary due to the US' lack of support for the deal. The original agreement involved the UK ceding sovereignty of the territory to Mauritius and paying an average of £101m ($136m) annually to lease back a joint UK-US military base.
