I will not mud-sling anyone; my training does not permit it. Show your degree and we will bring sweets for you and take you to Bari Imam to offer a chadar, says the PML-N leader.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Sep, 2026)
PML-N leader Captain (Retired) Safdar has stated that wearing a second-hand black coat does not make someone a lawyer, emphasizing that his sole agenda is for those facing questions to present their original degrees. He offers to personally deliver sweets to their homes after verification.
Reacting to the dispute over lawyers' degrees and Bar Council elections, Captain (Retired) Safdar said:
"I will not engage in mudslinging as my training does not allow it. However, I have a simple condition—show your academic and legal degree. If you produce the degree, we will apologize, bring sweets to your home, and take you to the shrine of Bari Imam Sarkar to offer a chadar."
He addressed the lawyers' community and Bar politics, arguing that merely wearing a second-hand black coat does not qualify someone as a legal expert or lawyer, stressing the need to present degrees.
"Azam Nazeer Tarar was absolutely correct in stating that non-lawyers should stay away from Bar politics. My firm belief is that individuals without valid law degrees should remain entirely absent from Bar elections."
