Woman Assault Suspect Held In Injured Condition
UrduPoint (September 23, 2026) - A suspected robber allegedly involved in assaulting a woman and attempting to snatch her gold jewellery was arrested in injured condition during a police encounter, while his accomplice escaped under the cover of darkness.
According to the Crime Control Department (CCD), the incident took place in the Delhi Gate area, where the suspect allegedly slapped a woman and attempted to snatch her gold jewellery. A video of the incident had gone viral on social media on September 15, 2026.
The CCD reports that its team was conducting a blockade when they signalled two suspicious motorcycle riders to stop. The suspects allegedly attempted to flee and turned the motorcycle at high speed, but it slipped and fell, leaving one of them injured. He was subsequently arrested, while his accomplice managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
Police identified the arrested suspect as Faizan Tanveer, son of Tanveer Anjum, a resident of Inner Delhi Gate, Multan. The CCD recovered a .30-bore pistol along with bullets from the injured suspect. Efforts were underway to arrest his fleeing accomplice.
