Punjab Road Accidents: A Devastating Toll
As many as 13 people lost their lives and 1,780 others were injured in 1,504 road traffic crashes reported across all 38 districts of Punjab within the last 24 hours (27 August 2026). According to the Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122), this grim statistic includes:
- 780 seriously injured individuals transported to various hospitals.
- 1,000 minor injuries treated at crash sites by rescue medical teams.
The analysis revealed a concerning picture:
- 968 drivers
- 90 underage drivers
- 183 pedestrians
- 642 passengers
were among the victims.
Lahore, leading with 276 crashes, was followed by Multan (106) and Faisalabad (87). A total of 1,793 people were affected across 1,450 males and 343 females.
Motorcycles (1,694), auto-rickshaws (84), motorcars (130), vans (27), buses (25), trucks (25), and other vehicles (64) were involved in these accidents.
