14 Newborns Killed In Fire At PIMS MCH Ward – UrduPoint
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th Aug, 2026) Fourteen newborn children lost their lives after a fire broke out on the third floor of the Mother and Child Health (MCH) ward at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), according to the district administration.
Rescue teams arrived promptly after receiving reports of the incident. Six fire tenders and four ambulances participated in the rescue operation, successfully containing the blaze.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed profound grief and condolences over this tragic event, offering his sympathies to the grieving families. He described the incident as "extremely tragic and heartbreaking" and assured the government’s support during this difficult time.
A committee led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner-General has been formed to investigate the cause of the fire and determine the circumstances surrounding it.
