At least 19 people were killed and 1,543 others injured in 1,362 road traffic crashes (RTCs) reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (ESD).

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson on Wednesday, 665 seriously injured victims were shifted to different hospitals, while 878 people with minor injuries were provided treatment at the incident sites by Rescue Medical Teams, reducing the burden on hospitals.

The analysis showed that the victims included 926 drivers, 66 underage drivers, 182 pedestrians and 454 passengers. Lahore remained at the top of the list with 285 road crashes affecting 352 people, followed by Multan with 86 crashes and 97 victims, and Faisalabad with 81 crashes and 81 victims.

The data showed that 1,562 victims were affected by road traffic crashes, including 1,272 males and 290 females. Among them, 292 were under 18 years of age, 782 were aged between 18 and 40 years, while 488 were above 40 years.

The vehicles involved in the crashes included 1,495 motorbikes, 88 auto-rickshaws, 143 motorcars, 24 vans, 11 passenger buses, 33 trucks and 59 other vehicles and slow-moving carts.
