23,000 Police Personnel Sought from Provinces for Islamabad Security Amid Protests

More than 1,000 containers, riot-control units, special equipment and crowd-control gear have also been requested, a report said.
Tightened Security Arrangements in Islamabad
The Federal government has decided to strengthen security in the capital city ahead of anticipated political and public gatherings, requesting a total of 23,500 police personnel from Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.
The Cabinet Secretary has sent official letters to the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, while the Cabinet Division has also issued a notification regarding the availability and deployment of these personnel.
According to the notification:
- 15,000 police officers will be dispatched from Punjab.
- 8,000 will come from Sindh.
- 500 will be provided by Balochistan.
All provinces are directed to deploy these personnel in Islamabad by September 20.
Sources indicate that over 1,000 containers are being prepared for potential protests and rallies in the federal capital, with more than 100 already delivered to key locations.
In addition to these, riot-control units, special equipment, and necessary crowd-control gear have been placed on alert.
Security measures are being enhanced at entry and exit points of Islamabad, important government buildings, and sensitive areas in response to the current situation.
