7,000 Cops To Ensure Security On 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal in Lahore
Lahore (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - August 21, 2026) — Commissioner Nauman Yousaf, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran, and Punjab Ulema board Chairman Dr Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori chaired a meeting on Friday to review arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) in Lahore Division.
Attending the meeting were deputy commissioners from all four districts of Lahore Division, Ulema members, peace committee members, and officers from various administrative departments. Participants were briefed on security, traffic, rescue, and other preparations for the celebrations. The briefing revealed that 7,000 Lahore Police personnel would be deployed on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, with 3,000 Civil Defence volunteers securing procession routes.
Rescue 1122 ambulances and motorcycles would remain alert along the routes, while traffic and parking plans were also finalized. Commissioner Nauman Yousaf emphasized a joint plan for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) arrangements, noting that 71 major processions would take place in Lahore, including 19 on 11th Rabi-ul-Awwal and 52 on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. He highlighted preparations by the Traffic Police, Rescue 1122, and allied departments, ensuring all procession routes had patchwork and restored streetlights.
The commissioner instructed departments to strictly enforce safety measures during processions, welcoming suggestions for improvement. Dr Mufti Intikhab emphasized conveying a message of peace, harmony, love, and devotion to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), citing strong coordination between Ulema and the administration in line with Punjab government directives.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran assured strict action against miscreants and provocative elements, pledging comprehensive security measures for peaceful Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) observance.
