90% Drop in Enrolment at Punjab Government Higher Secondary Schools Revealed

A significant decline of 90% in student enrolment after matriculation has been observed at government higher secondary schools across Punjab, according to a report. It suggests that many students are choosing alternative educational institutions post-matriculation, posing a challenge to the province’s education system.
The data reveals that only 56,000 students enrolled in Grade 11 at government higher secondary schools this year, while over 600,000 students were studying in Grade 10 at government schools throughout Punjab. When admissions for Grade 11 opened, more than 550,000 students opted for colleges, leading to a stark reduction in enrolment at government higher secondary institutions.
