Abid Sher Ali, Aimal Wali Khan Clash Over Remarks Against CM Maryam Nawaz in Senate; Video Emerges

A clash broke out between Senator Abid Sher Ali and Aimal Wali Khan during a Senate session, with footage of the incident emerging. Abid Sher Ali stated that remarks against “our chief minister” should not be permitted.
Aimal Wali Khan, the Awami National Party (ANP) Central President, addressed a Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights meeting regarding extrajudicial killings and fake police encounters. He criticized the state for not implementing higher court decisions, labeling the activities of the CCD and CTD as alarming. Questioning police practices, he asked, "Which law allows firing a pistol in the nape?" He expressed skepticism over the consistent narrative released after every accused killed by police.
The tension escalated during the session, leading to a direct clash between the two senators.
Abid Sher Ali, later speaking to the media outside Parliament, accused Aimal Wali Khan of using inappropriate language against Maryam Nawaz Sharif and making several offensive remarks. He claimed Aimal Wali Khan targeted Maryam Nawaz‘s projects, describing his statements as out of context. Abid Sher Ali vowed to prevent such attacks, stating, "I will not allow it at all."
Responding to Aimal Wali Khan‘s claim that the government was frustrated, Abid Sher Ali suggested that Aimal Wali Khan‘s mental state needed attention, saying, "We are not aggressive; his mental state should be fine."
