ACE Arrests Municipal Clerk Red-handed Taking Bribe

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Thursday arrested a clerk of the Municipal Corporation Mian Channu red-handed while allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs15,000 from a citizen.
According to ACE spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Tahir Ali, was caught accepting the bribe from Tauseef Azam, who had approached the municipal office for the issuance of birth certificates for his children.
The official stated that the complainant had previously paid Rs10,000 to the clerk for the service; however, the accused demanded an additional Rs15,000 to complete the process.
Acting on the complaint, an ACE team conducted a raid and recovered marked Currency notes from the clerk’s possession on the spot.
The operation was executed on the directives of Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha. A case was registered against the suspect and further investigation was underway.
