Action Initiated Against Long-absent Teachers in Khanewal
Education Department Takes Action
The education department has initiated disciplinary proceedings against teachers who have been absent from duty for extended periods. Final notices have been issued to three teachers under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006.
According to a notification, EST Zeenat Ayub of Government Girls Elementary School Hashmat Murali has been absent since July 31, 2025. Similarly, EST Shaheen Sardar of Government Model Elementary School No. 3 and PST Irshad Hussain Safdar of Government Model Elementary School Kothi No. 7 have also been absent for prolonged periods.
The department had previously served multiple show-cause notices to the teachers but did not receive any response. The notification warns that failure to appear before the office within seven days will result in ex parte proceedings and potential dismissal from service, as per the PEEDA Act. Teachers will not be able to appeal against these actions if they do not attend.
