Adiala Jail Undertrial Prisoner Dies; He Was Jailed in Drug Case: Officials

The prisoner suddenly fell ill and died on the way to hospital while being shifted by ambulance, according to the jail administration.
Rawalpindi’s Central Jail Adiala witnessed the death of an undertrial prisoner due to illness, officials revealed. Owais Ahmed, aged 40, was detained in a drug case registered by Jatli Police Station.
Police stated that the prisoner suddenly fell ill and died while being transported to hospital. A case had been filed against him under Section 9-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act.
The jail administration informed that the prisoner became sick unexpectedly and was promptly taken to the hospital by ambulance; however, he died before reaching the medical facility. They further added that proceedings related to the incident are underway.
