The petitioners argue that Article 25 of the Constitution requires equal treatment for all citizens and that they should receive the same medical facilities available to the former prime minister.
Background
Three inmates of Adiala Jail have challenged the Islamabad High Court’s decision regarding the medical facilities provided to Imran Khan before the Federal Constitutional Court.
The petition seeks to have the Islamabad High Court’s decision declared null and void. The petitioners believe that:
- Article 25 of the Constitution ensures equal treatment for all citizens.
- The medical facilities available to Imran Khan should also be provided to them.
They further refer to the Supreme Court’s August 18 order, which had ordered Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital. They request the court to order that they also receive treatment at this hospital and be provided, like Imran Khan, with the facility to communicate abroad via WhatsApp.
