The matter raises important questions about the alleged personal use of public resources, financial discipline and the exercise of authority, according to the motion.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Sep, 2026) An adjournment motion has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly seeking an immediate debate over the alleged use of the Punjab government’s official plane for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s private visit to London.
The motion was submitted by opposition member Waqas Mahmood Mann. It states that, according to media reports, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz traveled to London to attend her daughter's graduation ceremony and utilized the Punjab government’s official plane for the trip.
It is claimed that approximately Rs12.5 million from the public exchequer was spent on the aircraft’s fuel, parking, and other related expenses.
Waqas Mahmood Mann demanded that if reports regarding the use of the official plane and expenditure from the public exchequer are correct, the government should present before the House the legal and administrative approvals, details of the expenses, and sources of payment.
The motion maintains that the matter raises important questions regarding the alleged personal use of public resources, financial discipline, and the exercise of authority. It therefore calls for the issue to be taken up for immediate debate in the House instead of being dealt with through routine proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has denied that the Chief Minister’s London visit was paid for from the public exchequer. Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari stated that Maryam Nawaz paid all expenses for the plane used for the London visit from her own pocket.
The central question is now how the official aircraft was used and its expenses paid if the plane was government-owned, while the government maintains that the trip did not burden the public exchequer. Further clarification is expected during debate on the adjournment motion in the Punjab Assembly, when details regarding the use of the official plane, the actual expenses, and proof of payment may emerge.
