AJK Health Secretary Inaugurates Medical Waste Incinerator at Mirpur Hospital
MIRPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Aug, 2026) Secretary Health Azad Jammu and Kashmir Major General Amir Raza Tipu inaugurated a medical waste incinerator at Divisional Teaching Hospital Mirpur on Saturday, established with the cooperation of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The move is aimed at ensuring safe and proper disposal of hospital waste.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Raja Ejaz, along with senior doctors and hospital staff, received the Secretary Health upon his arrival. District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Fahad Hussain, Principal Benazir Bhutto Medical College Dr. Faisal Bashir, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Maria Zulfiqar and other officers and doctors were also present. Major General Amir Raza Tipu also planted a sapling on the hospital premises as part of an ongoing tree plantation campaign.
During the visit, Dr. Raja Ejaz provided a detailed briefing to the Secretary Health regarding the new incinerator, its functioning and arrangements for medical waste management.
Subsequently, Major General Amir Raza Tipu interacted with doctors, paramedical staff, and other employees, receiving briefings on healthcare facilities, cleanliness arrangements, medical waste management, and other hospital-related matters.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Amir Raza Tipu emphasized that serving humanity is the true mark of a human being and highlighted the immense responsibility borne by healthcare professionals. He urged them to perform their duties with dedication, compassion, and unwavering professional commitment.
