Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad Calls His Appointment as Foreign Secretary a ‘Great Honour’

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN, has described his appointment as the country’s foreign secretary as a "great honour," expressing deep humility at the leadership’s confidence.

"Looking forward to carrying out this responsibility in advancing the supreme national interest," he stated in a tweet. He extended gratitude to Allah, his family, friends, and colleagues for their support.

"Such a great honour to serve the green flag," Ambassador Asim Ahmad added.

Ambassador Ahmad has served with distinction as Pakistan’s chief delegate to the UN since April 2025, including a term as President of the United Nations Security Council in July 2025. Previously, he held ambassadorships in France (2022–2024) and Thailand (2017–2021), and served as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesperson.
