"Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like!" – Hunt on controversial ad

British sprinter Amy Hunt is among female athletes speaking out against a viral advert starring actress Sydney Sweeney. The advert features Sweeney naked but covered in sporting equipment, sparking strong reactions from many female athletes who criticise its sexualisation of women in sport.
Hunt, a four-time European champion, made her stand after winning fourth place in the 200m final at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest on Sunday.
“Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like,” Hunt said in her post-race interview with BBC Sport. “21.47 seconds, muscles, hard work, blood, sweat, tears. This is a beautiful evening."
American actress Sweeney, 29, known for her roles in Euphoria, Anyone But You, and The Housemaid, has come under fire for the advert.
The backlash started by American gymnast Gracie Kramer, who shared a montage of herself training with the caption: "I don’t know what Sydney Sweeney was doing, but this is what women in sport look like." Many other athletes from diverse sports followed suit, sharing videos of their own hard work and struggles.
Australian four-time Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus expressed her frustration:
"Not only is it a kick in the face to every woman who has dedicated her life to perfecting her craft, but every woman who enjoys sports for what it really is."
Other athletes sharing their stories include British cyclist and Olympic champion Sophie Capewell, rugby players Lisa Neumann and Ellie Boatman, and Australian water polo Olympian Tilly Kearns.
