Lancashire not extending deal for James Anderson

James Anderson's legendary career could be coming to an end, as Lancashire have decided not to offer the England cricket icon a new contract.

Anderson, 44, had continued his playing career with Lancashire after being forced into international retirement in 2024 by England. He captained the county in the County Championship last season, but Lancashire had a disappointing campaign, finishing near the bottom of Division Two.

As reported by the Times, Anderson will not be given the chance to play at Old Trafford in 2027, marking his 45th birthday. It remains to be seen whether he will retire or seek out another county to extend his 26-year professional career.
