The district administration and Social Welfare Department have launched a joint anti-beggary operation in various parts of the district. During the operation, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Hamid Siddique, individuals allegedly involved in professional begging were checked at different locations. According to the administration, 10 professional beggars, including minors, were taken into custody and subsequently expelled from the area.
It added that effective measures would continue to discourage professional begging on roads, intersections, and other public places. Special attention will also be given to removing children from begging and providing them with opportunities for education, vocational training, and rehabilitation.
Officials stated that the campaign’s objective was not merely to remove beggars from public spaces but to eliminate professional begging, rehabilitate deserving individuals, and equip them with skills to become productive and responsible members of society. The district administration and Social Welfare Department reaffirmed that the anti-begging campaign would continue, with action taken against professional begging at public places in accordance with the law.
