Arab, Islamic Countries' FMs Call For Fulfilling Gaza Phase One Commitments
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2026) The Foreign Ministers of Arab and Islamic countries have expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging Israel to fulfill its ‘Phase One’ commitments by ensuring unhindered aid delivery, supporting early recovery, and rehabilitating critical infrastructure.
Joint Statement by FMs:
In a joint statement, the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, who met in New York on September 21, on the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, stressed:
- The imperative of preserving the ceasefire and ending all violations.
- That the Road Map is an integral part of the Comprehensive Plan, providing the implementation framework for its Second Phase. This includes decommissioning alongside a full Israeli withdrawal, deployment of the International Stabilization Force (ISF), assumption of responsibilities by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) throughout the Gaza Strip, and launching early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
- A call for all parties to fulfill their respective commitments in good faith and without delay.
Key Points:
- Rejection of any measures aimed at the expulsion or forced displacement of Palestinian people from their homeland or attempts to alter the territorial or demographic character of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
- Depletion of illegal measures consolidating Israeli control and annexation, including accelerating settlement expansion, land confiscation, demolition of Palestinian homes, settler violence and terrorism, and forced displacement.
- Concern over measures undermining the historical and legal status quo of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
- Welcome for recent UK measures and broader national/European efforts against illegal Israeli settlement activity, calling for further effective actions to end settlement expansion and ensure accountability for settler violence.
- Emphasis that Gaza must remain an integral part of Palestinian territory, reaffirming that the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan should contribute to the reunification of the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip.
- Support for a credible and irreversible pathway towards the exercise of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the realization of a sovereign, viable, and independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem.
