Artists Pay Tribute, Stand In Unison With Armed Forces on Defense Day: Asma Butt

RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Sep, 2026) Renowned director and writer, Asma Ismail Butt on Sunday said that the artists’ community stands shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan’s Armed Forces and paid rich tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the motherland.
Speaking at a meeting of artists from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, held to discuss the welfare, rights, unity and issues facing the artistic community, Asma Butt said artists were an important and respected segment of society and deserved dignity, protection of their rights, and a better future.
The meeting, chaired by Asma Ismail Butt, was attended by Zaheer Chaudhry, Riffat Ali Qaiser, Shabbir Shah, Kaleem Khan, Amjad Chaudhry, Asma Malik, and other representatives of the artistic community.
On the occasion of Defense Day, Asma Butt paid tribute to the armed forces and martyrs of Pakistan, stating that the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the country would always be remembered. She emphasized that the artists’ community shared the nation’s respect for the defenders of the country and stood united with them.
Discussing the welfare of artists, she argued that merely holding positions or forming organizations was not enough to ensure effective institutions. Butt emphasized the importance of sincerity, responsibility, and practical efforts for the community to achieve meaningful progress.
Asma Butt proposed the formation of a committee to collectively address the problems faced by artists and work for the protection of their rights and welfare. She declared that she had no desire for any position and would continue raising her voice for the rights and welfare of artists, stressing that the community needed unity, dignity, and practical support rather than merely titles and positions.
