Ashfaq Ahmed Remembered On 22nd Death Anniversary
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Sep, 2026) Literary icon, playwright and broadcaster Ashfaq Ahmed was remembered on his 22nd death anniversary on Monday.
Born on August 22, 1925, Ahmed made lasting contributions to urdu literature, television and radio broadcasting through his distinctive writing style. He wrote numerous acclaimed ptv plays, including “Munchaley Ka Soda,” “Aik Mohabbat Sau Afsanay,” “Tota Kahani” and “Hairat Kada,” and hosted Radio Pakistan’s iconic programme “Talqeen Shah” from 1962 until his death.
His notable literary works included “Zavia,” “Aik Mohabbat Sau Afsanay,” “Gadariya” and “Tota Kahani.” In recognition of his meritorious services, he was awarded the Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
Ashfaq Ahmed passed away on September 7, 2004, in Lahore, leaving behind a lasting literary and broadcasting legacy.
